Anthony Calderone

Anthony Calderone was that student in high school, who gained a strong interest in pathology. Anthony started his career and followed his interest in pathology starting in 1997 as a procedural, operating room technician at Newton Wellesley Hospital. In 1998, he continued his interest and career as a Gross Bench Technician at Pathology Services Incorporated processing skin and gynecological specimens. He continued his pathological pathway by joining Boston Children’s Hospital as the Autopsy Technician/ Diener. In 2001, he decided he wanted to expand his knowledge regarding pathology research, he became the research technician at Dana Farber Cancer Institute focusing on harvest and dissection for routine histologic processing, preparing H&E slides, embedding tissue and cutting frozen sections.

He spent 5 years as a technical staff member in Anatomic Pathology. In 2002, he decided he wanted to move from the technical aspect to the administrative aspect of pathology. He started his administrative position at Boston Children’s Hospital as the Administrative liaison and now is the administrative manager. Through his years at Boston Children’s Hospital, he was the Safety Officer and Regulatory Compliance Officer. Through this role, he learned a lot about laboratory safety and regulatory rules and regulations. Through all his roles in pathology, he has been able to gain hands on experience in the technical and research field as well as a wide variety of administrative skills and knowledge.
